Construction

We conduct all of our own groundwork, from site-surveying, site clearance and excavations through to drainage, running services and laying the concrete slab.

The frames are erected one floor at a time, with ceiling joists, counter-battens and floor decking being fixed before the next set of frames is erected.

Either truss or cut roofs are used, as appropriate with roof cladding systems depending on the design. If possible, we prefer to use natural slate roofing and galvanised steel guttering which have better longevity and appearance, and avoids using plastic. The next stage is for windows and doors to be fitted to specification, thus making the building weatherproof.

Site Surveys are conducted for precise planning and subsequent marking out for foundations and timber frame locations. All ground work is carried out by company staff, including foundations, drainage and laying the concrete slab ready for frame erection. Timber frames are erected by us, using sub-contracted cranes for upper floors.

To increase the volume available for insulation, external frames, roofs and ceilings are counter-battened. At this stage, First Fix can be conducted, allowing sub-contracted plumbers and electricians to fit everything before plastering. In parallel, the exterior brick, block, stone or timber cladding can be fitted.

Both Roof Trusses and Cut Roofs are used depending on the use of the space below. WarmCel recycled newspaper being blown into timber frames prior to completion of plasterboarding. Curved internal walls after plastering, ready for decoration.

Next, we insulate the whole building with up to 250mm of WarmCel®, and seal the walls with a moisture barrier and plasterboard. Second fix follows plastering, and the house is complete.
